Texas Child Search is an organization I have personally never heard of and I
live in Houston. I contacted the Laura Recovery Center for information. LRC
was unaware of this organization obtaining funds in their name. These scams
happen frequently on the internet and scam artists will use the names of
organizations that are well know as a front.
For those who have never heard of the LRCF, let me give you some background
information. The Laura Recovery Center Foundation has been around since the
abduction and murder of Laura Smither in 1997. You may read the background
of
the organization here:
http://www.lrcf.net/LRCFoundation.org/LRCFBackground.html
This was also the year that our team was formed--Greater Houston Search Dogs
www.ghsd.org. I live only a few miles away from the Smithers and we have
become very close through the years. I have worked on many searches with
them and
can say they are one of the most reputable and professional volunteer
organizations I have ever had the pleasure of working with. They have put
together a
manual to educate law enforcement on how to conduct searches for missing
children. They give many lectures each year to Houston Police Dept. and
other
local PD's concerning missing children which is available for download on
their
website. http://www.lrcfoundation.org/
They have also been asked to help with searches in many different states and
have been successful locating deceased victims with their search tactics when
local LE was unable to do so. They go in and do their job professionally and
try not to make a media circus out of a search, however they will use the
media when they need to get the word out and obtain help in a community as LE
and
other professional agencies do. I can tell you that they speak the truth
and
have always done so with me. When they say they do not have dealings with
the organization in question, then I believe them.
