Scott,
The simplest easy to use we have found are the Magellan 300. They are not computer compatible, but are simple for first timers to use, and best of all you can get them on e-bay for under $50.

The website for Pine county Minnesota Mounted Patrol is at www.pinecountysheriffpatrol.com<http://www.pinecountysheriffpatrol.com/>
We have not updated recently.
We are in the market for two simple GPS's without radio, but with backtrack feature. Is there a easy to use unit out there that's affordable? This will surely be used more in training then working hours.
