for years i have done this. . .  seems most do not.  I think it adds flexibility to sometimes squirrely beds and makes valve type drip connectors ($$$) unnecessary.

high pressure layflat main -> filter regulator ->  quick coupler OR hose connections -> layflat or bluestripe (cheap) drip header -> 1/4" ID black hose (irrigationmart.com) -> 1/4" barb drip fitting -> T Tape

cut the 1/4" hose at an angle on one side, flat on the other.  using a SMALL drill bit, drill holes for your spacings in the drip header material.  a reamer works well too.  Lube with dish soap, put everything in sun or greenhouse before assembly.

To shut off a run, just take a piece of drip tape and slip it over a doubled over 1/4" line.

Cons. . . tripping over them.

let me know if you have questions

Someone described using tubing between the mainline and the drip tape, and I really like that idea.  But, what size tubing or what driptape couplings were you using?   I have some .25 inch DTF250BV and .42 in DTFP6A couplers.  What type tubing – UV resistant I assume? But what does the size difference need to be to hold and not leak? Any tricks?

Thank you.
