Yes the spinner spreader will work. You will have to use the full open setting and spread hopefully with a crosswind. I have done it but after using powder gypsum and lime I now pay extra and get it pelletized. I would never want to use powder again its too messy. For larger fields I hire a company that applies it with a floater truck... Bob.

I found an economical source of gypsum, $14 a ton, but am wondering how I'm going to spread it.  I have a large broadcasting spreader but I'm wondering if it would just clog using a powder like that.  Its one of those cone shaped 3 pt hitch things like the ones they sell at tractor supply.  I thought about maybe mixing it with sand to make it more spreadable and the sand would help improve my heavy clay anyway but I'm not sure how well that would work either. 
 
Any suggestions?
