I have grown awesome gooseberry this year. What I found out is that
there is a pretty big difference between physalis pruinosa (aka
groundcherry) and physalis peruviana (aka gooseberry). In the past, I
had been growing the former, but I have grown peruviana this year, much
to my delight. Peruviana produce larger, darker golden fruit with much
better flavor than pruinosa. However, the plant did not yeld as much.
It could be that my season is just a tad too short (zone 5b), because
there where a lots of fruit on the plant that did not had time to ripen.
It might yeld better for someone further south.
