Technically, it isn't "proportions" that make GMO corn different. It's usually only one gene that codes for something non-GMO corn would not produce. So the GMO corn is proportionally the same as non-GMO corn. What distinguishes it is the presence of a novel substance or the lack of a substance expected in non-GMO corn. In the case of Bt corn, which is genetically engineered to be resistant to European corn borer and other moth larvae, the Bt gene produces a toxin that would not be found in non-GMO corn. The toxin poisons the larvae of lepidopteran insects which feed on the corn.

Isn't GMO corn chemically the same as any other corn, only with slightly
different proportions? I would think so. After all, if grown organically,
it's made with the same soil nutrients and sunshine as any other organic
corn, its just had its DNA programmed to arrange those nutrients
differently.
