I have experience with squash bugs that might work on your beetles. I'll tell the story.

A couple years ago, I had squash bugs real bad. I'd heard that if you put a flat board down next to the plant, you could go out early the next morning and the squash bugs would be under the board and you could have your way with them. So, I had a bunch of very old cedar shingles and I proceeded to put one at the foot of each plant. Early the next morning I went out expecting to make a significant reduction in the squash bug population, but oddly, I couldn't find a single one!!! What happened? It took me a while, but figured out that they didn't like the cedar. I've tried this in subsequent years and it seems to work pretty well. Cedar shingles are pretty pricy, but I under stand you can get cedar scented sprays, but have never tried them. Cedar shavings for animal bedding is cheap though.

If it works on cucumber beetles, please let us know.
