Ted,
Thanks for your thank you note.  As slow as I am about getting stuff done, the dahlias are usually up by the time I put the netting over the top.  Then it is a matter of how to get it down a bit, rather than moving it up with them.  But it seems that if I can get it stretched out at about 2 feet above the ground, the dahlias will grow up through it and have enough support.  I am especially pleased with the Karma dahlias that I got through the Gloeckner special last year.  They overwintered (Zone 6 or 7) and I am now cutting them again.  Nice long stems all summer.

Thanks, Janet.
I have the netting an use it with zinnias, etc.
I confess I haven't _tried_ it with dahlias. I thought it would be
difficult to raise up as the plants grew tall. Clearly a lack of
imagination on my part....
Perhaps the solution was under my nose.
Thanks for helping me think bigger. /Ted
