Don't be too quick to give up on OP tomatoes. As I had posted last summer we
had a very large trial of 110 varietys of heirloom tomatoes at out two
research farms, final results will be avaliable in January but in glancing
down the list there were a few varietys that had good disease resistance.
Mortgage Lifter developed in W VA. was one of the best. Burgundy Traveler was
another winner with great disease and heat resistance. Overall the trial did
prove to suffer from disease alot more than hybrids, I think we have funding
for two more years with heirloom trials, if so you should try to get to the
grower field days and see them for yourself next summer...Bob.
