Here in Northern Wisconsin, snow load on hoop houses is a real concern.
This is how we solved the problem. Cut 2X2's to fit between the ground and
the ridge pole inside the greenhouse. Nail a 6X6X1 board or piece of
plywood to one end. Notch the other end to cradle the ridge pole. Pound a
nail into each side of the 2X2 about 1 inch below the notched end. Put the
2X2 with the notch snug under the ridge pole and the 6X6 board on the
ground. Attach a short length of wire or twine to one of the nails, thread
the wire over the ridge pole and attach to the other nail. Place a support
every 8 feet down the hoophouse. The next winter storm, read a book in
front of the fire instead of sweeping snow off of the hoophouse.
