they should not sit flat, with the big groove facing up the fingers should be up a little with the solid part down flat against the chuck. When you turn the chuck on it pulls the finger section down.

For use on a magnetic chuck, typically used to hold non-magnetic materials down. Butt the serrated fingers against your work piece and once you turn the magnet on, the fingers will engage the work piece in a down word fashion.


DON'T try to straighten them. They'll do that on their own when drawn down from the mag.
