Explain.... You've been selecting for large bulbs,,,, strain specific to your
garden.
How do you select? Keep buying different varieties until you find one that
likes your area? Or only picking off the large cloves to plant or what?

I started off growing 3 or 4 different types of garlic. A couple types did
best, so I picked the largest, nicest bulbs to plant for the next year, and
have done that every year. At first that left the less desirable ones for
me, but now they are all pretty nice. I fugure that the ones that do best
must be best adapted to my particular garden. The same is true of any kind
of seed saving, but it's a little trickier with seed because it's not an
exact duplicate of it's parent like garlic is.
