Also, there are TEA PARTYS scheduled across the entire country on April 15th.

http://taxdayteaparty.com/teaparty/new-mexico/

Under CHOOSE A STATE, click on your state and see if there is an event near
you.
This is a nationwide protest that seems to be gaining steam.

I've been in contact with the locals, and apparently it isn't just a protest
about taxes.

I'll be writing a speech over the next week, among other things....and one of
my protests is going to include the malarky about small farmers and
compliance.  (Thanks Lynda and others for all your posts on those, as I'll be
drawing on some of them for ideas!)

Just what I need, another thing to do :-)

Leslie

Thanks, Leslie. Easier to go to: www.leavemyfoodalone.org for more
information on this. This video is too edgy for me, and slow even on
DSL.--Sage

Everyone seems to have spring fever............

I'm also itching for it to warm up a bit more.  Although some things planted
are showing their faces now.

Potatoes are really pretty plants so far - really green !  I have never seen
them before.  They range from 1/2" high to 5" high.  I've no idea why they
all growing diffferently since most were planted the same day.

Pole beans are just starting to unfold under the straw.  Pinto beans are
about 4" high and if no frosts should do well.

Thanks people for the info on the garbanzo's.... I bought some to plant, and
make sure I get them in the ground tomorrow if they are that slow of a grower!

(Just had to break the silence after learning that it is going down to
27(which means 24 or so for me) Sunday night and then 31 (28) on Monday
night. I am so frustrated!!!! Why can't Spring come and STAY?
And of course, it is raining AGAIN.
And there is a 50% chance of rain on both Sunday and Monday, AGAIN
My garden is flooded under an inch of water STILL because new springs
keep popping up-thank God for raised beds, but I want to plant corn and
beans! My peas are under water, and since they can't swim, I'm
assuming
they have drowned...they look a bit pea-ked<g>.
The creek ran from Wednesday to Sunday, the longest time ever,
disappeared on Tuesday afternoon, started up yesterday afternoon and it
running full bore right now. I'm starting to get used to the creek
running.

JAMES WROTE  <<<<,hill the dirt around them until the hill stands 10" high or

When the potato blooms, it's useless to hill it any farther>>>>

I did the trenches, and covered as you suggested - and most of those potatos
are peeking their nose out now with beautiful green leaves.

10" high???  Around what, each potato plant?

And as far as potato bloom, is that flower?

We had a couple of cold nights here under 32 after some of the first potatos
I planted in tires came up.  The ones that had straw over them, nothing
happened.  One had gotten taller and some of the leaves turned black - BUT -
a week or so later you'd never know anything happened.

(And the potatoes I ordered on-line last fall.......... which were promised
weeks ago,,,,,,,,,, still haven't been shipped.

<<< this is going to be a dicey year>>>>  expand on those thoughts, please :-)

Hello ~
I'm sure that I am not who you were thinking of,(generally a lurker but an
avid follower of all message threads here)but I live in Candor, NY, which is
about 30 miles west of Binghamton. My son & his girlfriend had business at
the Broome County Courthouse, which is just a few blocks away from the Civic
Center, there on Friday morning. They had to take another route home out of
Binghamton, as traffic was being directed away from the the main streets
there. He called me on his cell phone to see if I had any idea what was
going on, and when I went on-line to see what the Binghamton news channel had
to report, I was surprised to see that it was the "breaking news" story on
the Yahoo! homepage, via CNN and the AP, as well. And this morning's news
reports out of Pittsburgh (the man reported to be "lying in wait" and the
three policemen who were killed outright) -- it's happening on a near-daily
basis, it seems. Both of these events seem to have been premeditated, if the
news reports are correct -- the man in Binghamton actually barricaded the
back door of the building with his own car to prevent people from leaving,
before he entered the building, and the fellow in Pittsburgh was armed and
wearing a bullet-proof vest when the police arrived to deal with the reported
domestic incident occurring there. Very unsettling times, these.

Karen in southern Central NY
