Because everything you do is tied to a clock. Stores open by the time change, deliveries arrive by the time change, the post office works by the time change, any business you have to deal with operates by the time change.

I agree that the one hour change is a jolt, but I like the extra hour
of light in the spring and fall. I work at an office job now, but for
the 20 some years that I freelanced, the time change didn't bother me
much. I'm not sure why it would bother anyone who isn't tied to a
clock.
