I would build some sort of shop first thing as I have a container full of shop tools and I would want to get those available as soon as possible. Getting them in a secure place out of the weather would be first priority.
I went to storage Saturday and looked things over. I want to drag it all out and build something so today it was requested that I bid on the job to build a couple of cabinets.

Figure out which gear lever works which the front and the back. Get the front on to the middle sprocket and just leave it alone (for now). Adjust the rear gear as necessary to get it to where it's easy to pedal, when it get's too hard adjust it some more. This is a LOT simpler than you are making it out to be.
LOL...they aren't levers...it's a dial...two dials, in fact, one on each
handgrip. The grip turns. I know it's not that complex, but it's a
coordination adjustment. Trying to remember which brake is the back
brake, which is the front(this bike has disk brakes, not caliper brakes,
so they really STOP), which gear to shift to and which sprocket that
gear is, which grip works which derailleur, is a lot on the spur of the
moment when you are riding on rocks. The toe clips are distracting, as
is the helmet. (never had either when I was a kid) When I twist the grip
to change the gears, I lose control of the bike. These bikes are very
different in where your center of gravity is(more over the handlebars
than back over the seat) and the wheels are very close together. It's
just different and an adjustment, more so than I would have thought, and
that adjustment is slower than I would like it be. Yeah, I am
exaggerating a bit, being a bit melodramatic, but it really is
different. I'm giving myself a week to reach a comfort level, and if I
can't master this to a reasonable level of safety on my terrain, I'll
admit defeat and go back to the boring exercycle in the bedroom. :)
I dunno Rob, maybe this is early Parkinson's or Alzheimers or something. :)
