I hauled in and out of the old Libby plant in Sunnyvale, CA, They stored the canned goods without a label, only a paper tag with an inventory number. When an order came in, a pallet of cans was loaded into a machine and the labels put on. My wife was with me on one load and was amazed to watch a pallet of corn have the Libby label attached. They stopped the machine, changed the roll with the labels but did not change what was going through. They now were labeling the cans as Buttrys corn. I saw the same thing at the Cambells factory where they would just change the label.

I am sixty and have no problem with all the new gadgets other than I cannot afford them. I understand the deepest workings of the computers, networks, WiFi, satellite, etc. I have a cell phone that I can use to connect to the internet and I have a GPS connected to the computer. I have done some recent reading on the use of DSP in ham radio and I found I could follow the discussion and algorithms.

I do know things have changed rapidly, there is just more stuff out there that we must at least be aware of. I wonder if there will come a time when I wish it would just all stop. By then I hope to be growing tomatoes and only worrying about the soil.

What helps is to think about my mother. She was born in 1919 in Bishop, CA. Since then she can remember the families first car, the first broadcast radio, the first home phones, the introduction of TV in LA, on and on. She has many more changes and recently I got her on a computer and she is in there sending email and looking things up on teh web.

This is important because I think Landini is a totally cool name for
a machine that works the land. Reminds me of Zamboni, the machine
that smooths hockey ice. How much did you sell it for OR how much do
you want for it?

Landini started tractor production in 1925 and the name exists today. They own the Case IH plant in England and today build the McCormic tractor. The next time you are in the West Plains farm store, look over the McCormics on display. The smaller tractors are built in Japan but the big ones are built by Landini from mostly Case IH designs.

Until the mid 50s Landini used a single cylinder hot bulb engine but purchased rights to the Perkins Diesel engines. The engine was built by Landini but was designed by Perkins, an arrangement they continue to this day.
