One good resource to consult is James Dunn's THE THEOLOGY OF PAUL THE APOSTLE
(Eerdmans
1998), both for Dunn's insights and for his review of earlier scholarship.
You might also find illumination
in Ernst Käsemann, PERSPECTIVES ON PAUL (Fortress, 1971), which contains K's
essay "On Paul's
Anthropology." A quite different take on the data is Daniel Boyarin's A
RADICAL JEW (U of California,
1994).
