I'm trying to figure out just how 'unwieldy' P46 was, and what problems
there might have been for the scribe who wrote it. So, does anyone have any
information regarding the thickness of the papyrus used in P46? The
information I have found so far suggests that modern papyrus is about 0.25
mm thick, and that ancient papyrus may have been about 0.35 - 0.45 mm thick
(for comparison, typical copy paper is about 0.1 mm thick). This suggests
that P46 was probably between 0.35 x 104 and 0.46 x 104 mm, i.e. between
about 1.4 and 1.8 inches, thick. Anyone got any better estimates?
