Liz,
In my view no one offers a better exposition of Paul's view of sin and
redemption than Rudolf Karl Bultmann. Get a copy of Bultmann's "Theology of
the New Testament" and read sections 23-25, and sections 35-37. This will
remove all traces of confusion.
