Carol,
If you want to follow up Jeffrey's suggestion about studying stories
of Paul in Acts, you might take a look at Susan R. Garrett, _The
Demise of the Devil: Magic and the Demonic in Luke's Writings_
(Fortress, 1989).
On the other hand, you will notice that it is the seven sons of Scaeva
who are tagged with the label ECORKISTHS and who use the magic-loaded
verb hORKIZEIN in their activities. Such language does not apply to
Paul.
