=95 8P Acoustic Garage
Acoustic Garage is a Durham band with roots as deep as a lonesome
pine. This group brings together their musical spirits for fun and
happiness through sound. Their acoustic songs range from the sounds of
coal country to a bluegrass rendition of Black Sabbath.

=95 10P Salt to Bitters (indie/folk rock)
Salt to Bitters is a drinking band, mixing alt country with indie
rock. The band was started in Chapel Hill, NC in January of 2007 by
Tony Raver (Violets for Nikki, The Relatively Calm, Twilighter). Since
the band has been put together different artists have worked on the
project including Stu Cole (Chicken Wire Gang, Squirrel Nut Zippers)
and Jenni Tonic (Whiskey Town, Calico Haunts, Jimmy and the Teasers)
and Brian Cabler (Western Civ). Salt to Bitters is currently working
on their first full length album in Chapel Hill, NC under Tiny Canvas
Records.

=95 8P Applesauce (blues/indie/folk)
Out of Chapel Hill, Applesauce is a NC vocal and guitar duo traveling
the space ways and practicing their 6-string weaving. Both are
veterans of the NC scene. Mark Holland (formerly of the major label
band Jennyanykind, and also Jule Brown) sings, plays guitar,
harmonica, percussion, etc. as well as writing the songs, recording
and mixing the records. Pete Waggoner (formerly of Blue Diablo) plays
lead guitar, mandolin, sings and plays harmonica too. Breaking many a
tune down country-blues or "front-porch" style, their repertoire
consists of originals and covers of blues, country-blues, folk,
ragtime, Popular song, roots, bluegrass and many other genres that can
be placed into their grinder. Many of the songs are composed by Mark.

After breaking into the music business in the early '90's as a member
of Jennyanykind (an act on major-label Elektra), Mark has refined his
act over 16 years of performing and recording. He has supported such
acts as Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Southern Culture on the
Skids, Paul Thorn, Flaming Lips, Afghan Whigs, Howard Jones, Red Hot
Chili Peppers, Toby Keith, Shooter Jennings, Trace Adkins, Luna,
Fastball and many others.

"COUNTRY BLUES SO SINISTER IT COULD SCARE THE GUY WHO SCARED ROBERT
JOHNSON." INDY WEEK, RICK CORNELL

"JILTED LOVERS EVERYWHERE MIGHT CONSIDER THE EXAMPLE OF MARK HOLLAND
WHO PARLAYS HEARTBREAK INTO 12 SPECTRAL SONGS." NEW YORK TIMES, JOHN
PARELES

"BILLBOARD EDITORS AND WRITERS PICK THEIR TOP 10 RECORDS: 5, MARK
HOLLAND: MUTANT COUNTRY NECROMANCY RECORDED SOLO BY NC SAVANT." CHRIS
MORRIS

=95 10P Possum Jenkins (americana/country/roots)

Call it alt. country.
Call it Southern rock.
Call it Americana.
Call it shake-yo-ass blues-fried boogie with flashes of raucous cow
punk.
Call it a honky-tonk Chinese fire drill.

Any one of those musical descriptors could hit the mark during a
Possum Jenkins show and be dead on.

Since coming together during their final year at Boone, North
Carolina=92s Appalachian State University in 2004, rising Americana
quartet Possum Jenkins has toiled and triumphed in bars, clubs and at
festivals across their home state, as well as venturing into South
Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

A sonic Southern recipe of simple but effective melodies married to
boundless, off-the-rails energy find the tight-knit group zeroing in
on a sound that seamlessly incorporates strains of the timeless
mountain music of Appalachia, the compelling alt. country of East
Nashville and Austin, a touch funky Memphis soul and a helping of
unabashed Southern rock.

It=92s not hard to see why Possum Jenkins is just as comfortable sharing
stages with outlaw legend Billy Joe Shaver as they are with blues
rockers the North Mississippi Allstars. Fans of Shaver=92s raw,
heartfelt country as well as those of the Allstars=92 brand of hill
country boogie have both identified with the hard-driving and
passionate Americana of Possum Jenkins that finds common ground in
both traditions.

On Collection Of Bad Habits, the third independent studio release by
Possum Jenkins, the Winston-Salem and Boone, NC-based quintet matches
their strongest batch of original material with equally compelling
production courtesy of Doug Williams (Avett Brothers, Mad Tea Party)
of Electro Magnetic Radiation Recorders and former Emma Gibbs Band
guitarist and vocalist Richard Upchurch. In addition to solid playing
throughout by the band, guest turns by Will Straughn (Emma Gibbs Band,
Shannon Whitworth) and longtime collaborator Aaron Burleson on
keyboards add depth to the band=92s self-described blend of
=93Carolinacana.=94 Swapping instruments throughout and sharing
songwriting and lead vocal duties, Possum Jenkins=92 driving, country-
tinged rockers mesh perfectly with soulful acoustic fare, delivering
the band=92s most mature and fully realized album to date.

Saturday, November 13

=95 8P Ken Larson Trio (jazz/swing/bossa)
The KLT consists of Ken Larson on guitar, Lex Larson on bass and Todd
Gambling percussion/vocals. KTL focuses on mid-20th century
traditional Jazz with an emphasis on Bossa. Favorite composers
include: Jobim, Miles, Ellington, Mingus.

=95 10P Bleumatics (rock/r&B/blues) - CD Release Party
We seem, through no fault of our own, to attract a mixed crowd. A
collage of college-age and college-drop-out-age peeps come to hear
people that look old enough to play blues with cred. And then they
hear something that sounds like Neil Young married Pink Floyd at a
wedding presided over by Burning Spear, and they come back again a
couple of weeks later. Who woulda thought? Boomers seem to enjoy
seeing people their age touring and performing originals, like, yo, we
still rock and roll, and not on the oldies tour. Which is grand, you
know. And when they go home to bed after the first set, god bless 'em,
our friends, the young peeps stay and clap. There are about thirty
years between the band's youngest and oldest players, and they're not
related. We play unplugged in coffee shops and very plugged at clubs.
