Welcome back, Gary!

It's hard to believe it's been almost 10 years since you left. How time
flies...

Subject: In praise of AV Geeks

Hey all,

Last night I attended my first AV Geeks show since returning to the
area, and I must say that it didn't lose a bit of its fun in the
near-decade I've been away.

The setting was different for me, as it was at the Center for
Documentary Studies in Durham, and I mostly remember AV geeks shows in
more of a club setting. Tonight's show had a "how-to" theme and we
learned many great things, like how to shoplift, how to properly cook
frozen meat, and how to build an igloo.

We also learned that the music from a particular 1977 instructional
film on how to be a good friend had some redicuously funny music. My
favorite went something like this (use a sickly sweet, female,
sing-songy voice here):

"Trust and respect
Respect and trust
Friendship is better with trust and respect"

It was like a television jingle selling... something ... trust and
respect, I suppose.

Anyway, the night was good fun and a nice reminder of why I'm happy I
moved back to Durham! Thanks, Skip!

Gary
