I concur with Karl, there is nothing to suggest that the two words are related in meaning. The only radical they even share in common is a resh.

According to Easton, "He dwelt in Mesopotamia, and became, according to the Jewish historian Josephus, the progenitor of the Chaldeans. The tendency is to recognize in the word the name of the country nearest the ancient domain of the Chaldeans."

It would seem that he is more likely to have a history north of the Arabah.
