IMHO formal education of any kind is a quick stepping
stone for a new entrant into any field. Any knowledge
gathered thro' formal education however can be met and
exceeded without formal education, if there is
determination. I wonder how many doctorates a Thomas
Edison or a Tesla or the Wright brothers had.
Other than a medical degree where self-learning could
risk human lives, anything else could be learnt
through private study, determination and a normal
level of intelligence.
I do however understand the need for some with
doctorates to defend the value of their doctorates.
Best wishes,
Sujata
