TFDA Community -

Please pass this on to any youth players who might be interested. This
is a reminder that applications for the TYUL YCC team are due May 15th
at midnight (that's tomorrow!).

What is YCC? - YCC is the Youth Club Championships - a national
championship event held by the Ultimate Player's Association
( www.upa.org <http://www.upa.org> ) in Blaine, MN August 8-9.
 http://upa.org/juniors/championships/YCC
<http://upa.org/juniors/championships/YCC> . This is the most
competitive Ultimate event for High School students - and we're excited
that North Carolina is going to be represented this year (for the first
time!).

What will the TYUL YCC teams look like? There are two teams - Men and
Women. It will be composed of youth players that apply (with potential
try-outs, pending number of applicants). It will be a practicing team
coached by local club and college experts. Some of the coaches include:
Brian Dobyns (UNC and Backhoe coach), Raju Prasad (Ring of Fire), Tammy
Moose (Wake Forest coach), Leila Tunnell (UNC-Chapel Hill), and Wendell
Wilson (NCSU). These will be teams that work hard, learn a lot, and
have a great time.

What are the requirements? You must be under 19 as of 6/1/09 and you
must compete in the TYUL Summer league. Learn more at our site

What are the costs like? There's no cost for registration - though each
athlete will be responsible for assumed expenses - jerseys, travel,
food, lodging, etc. BUT we're committed to making this trip feasible
for all our players and will be working with the team on fund-raising
throughout the summer.

What are the important dates? One - the week of June 8th we'll be
having an information meeting for parents, coaches, and applicants.
It'll be a Q&A. We'll pin down an exact date, time and location ASAP.
Two - June 21st - the tentative date for the try-outs/first practice
(if you can't make that date we'll work with you on arranging an
alternate time). Three - August 8-9 - date of the Championships.
Beyond that the schedule will be determined by the coaches and the teams.

Sounds great - but I'm still not sure I want to play. That's totally
understandable - but you should go ahead and sign up! It doesn't commit
you and it will allow you to attend the information session and the
first try-out/practice.

Awesome, where do I sign up?
