Hello everyone,
Short version: should Hat League be Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays? If
you choose Tuesdays, are you willing to step up and run it? Please respond
to me and Tim Woods (cc'd on this) ONLY (not to the list!) with your
choice and other suggestions.
Long version: As you may have noticed, Hat League at Crabtree has been a
little chaotic this summer. In response to the many questions we've been
asked about what day Hat League will happen and why we changed to Mondays,
Tim and I would like to explain what's going on and then ask for your
input.
Hat League has been a Tuesday night staple of Triangle Ultimate for years.
Last year I turned over Hat to Tim Woods and a few other folks because I
couldn't make Tuesday nights anymore. This year I still have a Tuesday
conflict, Tim is going to be out of town for several weeks, and we weren't
sure what kind of commitment we'd get from other folks to run the game. In
addition we learned that there was another Tuesday night pickup game in
Raleigh that pulled many of the HL regulars. As a result Tim and I decided
to move the game. Originally we considered doing Wednesday nights but both
Ring and women's games were using the fields, so we chose Mondays instead.
We got rained out for several weeks, but the weeks we have run the game
turnout hasn't been great.
Now that Ring isn't using the fields anymore on Wednesdays, we're looking
at 3 options:
1. Keep the game on Mondays. Advantages: no conflict with the Tuesday
Raleigh pickup game, and Monday is the only night when there's no Ultimate
in the Triangle currently (as far as we know). Disadvantage: Tough to get
the word out over the weekend (it seems many folks get TFDA emails at
work).
2. Move to Tuesdays. Advantages: it's the day most folks associate with
Hat League. Disadvantage: we need people who can commit to running the
game on Tuesdays since Tim and I can't do it every week, and it conflicts
with the other Tuesday pickup.
3. Move to Wednesdays: Advantages: Tim and I can run this game.
Disadvantages: conflicts with Zen and isn't the night most folks associate
with Hat.
Here's what we'd like from you. If you plan (or would like) to play Hat
this summer, please respond to ME AND TIM ONLY (Tim's address is in the cc
line) telling us:
1. What night(s) you prefer (and if it's Tuesday, can you commit to
running it?).
2. An estimate of how many weeks you think you'd play this summer.
Tim and I will weigh the responses and choose a night that should give us
the best turnout.
Thank you all for your patience with us while we try to accommodate as
many people as possible.
Beej
