-------- Original Message --------
TFDA Spring League this year is going to use a new system of forming
teams. Introducing the "core" concept to the Triangle, each team will be
allowed to show up to the draft with a group of 8
players/friends/ringers/teammates already pre-determined. This core
needs to have 5 men and 3 women and there will be an experience point
cap based on Thuy's savage seven rating system that most of us are
familiar with. The details of this system are included below.
Don't stress over the details, the point of all this is to give everyone
a chance to play with a group of friends that they were able to choose!
Can't find a core? No problem! There will still be a draft and everyone
will end up on a team.
Registration is not yet open, but we wanted to go ahead and announce the
format so you could start forming your cores. Every player will still
register separately, with those on the same core indicating a team name
or captain when they register. The registration deadline is March 1,
11:59pm. If someone from your core doesn't register in time, the League
Commissioner, Troy Revell, will assign someone from the draft of
similar/less experience.
$42 gets you a 6-game schedule, a jersey, a disc, and a 2-day tourney.
Games will be at 10am and noon. We'll also have 2pm games if the league
is large enough.
Games will be played at Efland-Cheeks field, located here:

CORE/DRAFT EXPERIENCE GORY DETAILS
Each core can have up to a total of 32 experience points for its 5 men
and 3 women. The men's total cannot be higher than 24. There are a few
changes to Thuy's system. It only goes back two fall seasons, not three.
The age adjustment for women has been lowered, but the age deductions do
not apply to 6 point men or women. Junior worlds/nationals and non US
worlds/nationals count for something.
When we do the draft, the core with the lowest male point total will go
first. In the case of a tie, the core that is least top heavy will go
first, meaning a 6 5 3 3 1 core will draft before a 6 6 3 2 1 core. We
will then follow the same rules for women, based on each core’s female
point totals. (Hint: to earn a good draft position, cores may want to
consider not maxing out their experience points!)
Point values for individual players are determined by highest experience
during the last TWO years (2006-2007) and are as follows:
6 points
-Open or Women's Club Nationals
5 points
-Mixed or Masters Club Nationals
-College Nationals
-Open or Women's Club Regionals
-Worlds or Non-US Nationals
4 points
-Mixed or Masters Club Regionals
-College Regionals
-Open or Women's Club Sectionals
3 points
-Mixed Sectionals
-College Sectionals
-Junior Worlds or Nationals
2 points
-Tournaments
-Winter League/Summer League
-Corporate League
1 point
-pickup games
-never played before (everyone is worth at least a point).
Any player under 18 years of age, or any male having reached age 42, or
any woman having reached age 38 may subtract 1 from his/her initial
point assessment. Anyone having reached age 50 may subtract 2 points
from his/her initial point assessment. These age deductions do not apply
to players with open or women's club nationals experience in the past
two years. If your birthday is during the season (3/15-5/4), you may use
either the before or after age.
Thanx for reading, I'll send another message out when we have the
registration site ready!
