Sorry for the late notice. Come join us. And as always, everybody is
welcome including children. Plenty of live music; Zack Mondry and his
crew are playing mountain music again. For those out-of-towners like
Derek, Rodney and others thinking about making it; remember, you can
score on two events by only making one move. Make a road trip for the
Crawfest on May 3rd and the big TFDA Spring Carnival on May 4th.
If you can't make both events, try to make the TFDA event.
Thanks,
Christoph
Greetings fellow party-people!
My gosh is it that time of year again already? I've had all these people
asking me "When is Crawfest?" and "Where's the email announcement?" and
I'm thinking, geesh- we still got another 4 months before OH SNAP! It's
April already and that means, yes indeed, Crawfest 08 is just around the
corner. So I'm sorry for the late announcement. Hopefully you'll still
be able to change your plans because we all know, nothing takes
precedent over Crawfest!
So here's the deal:
Who: The Crawfest Committee of Greater Raleigh
What: Invite you to the 8th Annual Raleigh Crawfish Festival
When: May 3rd, 2008
Where: Same place as last 7 years- The Boshoff Place at 5216 Yates Mill
Pond Rd.
How: By shipping up 400 lbs of live crawfish from Raceland, LA to
Raleigh, NC
Why: Do you even need to ask?
Now here's the details:
This is the 8th time we've done this and by this time, it's kinda second
nature to a lot of us. But in case you're getting this from a friend of
a friend and you've never been to a Crawfish Boil, lemme explain what
happens here.
First, you gotta open the attachment below and print out the flyer and
the map. Make 1000 copies and post em everywhere you go so that everyone
you know gets the message. Then you gotta forward this here email to
everyone in your address book and tell em to do the same thing. Hey, if
it can work for a pyramid scam, it can work for a party plan, right?
Now when Saturday May 3rd comes around, we start the water boiling and
the music playing. People from all around and all walks of life start
showing up with friends, kids and family to come and get the party
started. We got a big yard in the front to park in and a big field in
the back to play in. Meanwhile, dem mudbugs is getting ready for their
main performance; and boy are dey spicy! So just to keep from burning
our mouths, we got the ice cold kegs pumped up and ready to pour.
Then when the folks are good and ready, we start the dumpin. On the
table we spread the hot boiled juicy crawfish along with de corn, de
potatoes, de mushrooms, de garlic, de hotdogs, and dat good juicy stuff
that make you slap ya knee and say "Damn dat some good crawfesh dare!"
While all de peoples are heatin up dey mouths and coolin off with the
beers, we got three bands to jump and jam to this year. First, we got a
band appropriately named The Last Call and they'll be sure to make you
sing along with their brand of rock n roll. Next up will be Stranger
Brothers who'll be returning again to make the grass blue with their
instruments plugged in this time. Then as the sun goes down, we'll have
Oatmeal Conspiracy comin back for their third annual performance and
bringing it down with their funk and jazz beats.
We're also going to have some mighty fancy, mighty stylish T-shirts for
sale. Buy yours before they sell out and show everyone that you were
there!
It's an all you can eat all you can drink sorta party. We like everybody
to come out and have a good time ya know. As always we appreciate our
food and drink table volunteers and of course, the bands that come out
and make the party happen, every year, free of charge. But to make this
happen, we ask you for a reasonable donation to the cause. We suggest
$20 a person and $30 a family. But of course, we always accept a
donation that lives up to your level of participation! A whole day of
free food, free beer and free live music> what is that worth to you?
Just look for the bucket on the table and help us keep the party alive!
So come all day, stay all night>
We can't wait to see you there!
The Paddle-Master
PS: i don't really say "Oh Snap" a lot and i apologize if i mis-used the
phrase...
