Anybody can say what a great compeitor Brett was, or comment on his dry wit.
But to truly honor him, one must acknowledge his use of the hammer.
No matter the situation, how far behind or ahead his team was, long or
short throw, you could always count on Brett to
throw the hammer. And he even pulled it off once in awhile.
So when you remember Brett, remember his hammer.... well that and his keen
fashion sense.

Subject: [TFDA] A loss in our Community -- Brett Chavis
Brett Chavis, only thirty years old, will be remembered this coming Saturday
in a memorial service
at 1PM at the Brown Wynne Funeral Home on Saint Mary's Street here in
Raleigh. The family will
receive friends immediately following the chapel service. In lieu of
flowers, memorials may be
made to the Children's Museum of Winston-Salem, 390 S. Liberty Street,
Winston Salem, NC 27101.
Many of us in the ultimate community have played with Brett one time or
another over the past 10
years, whether on a summer or winter league team. He played just this past
winter with Nick
Poore's team. Brett could always be counted on for a strong layout
defensive bid, and he knew how
to keep the disc moving. His humor was of the sarcastic sort, just needling
enough to get a rise
out of you, but never mean.
Teams that Brett has played on since League Central's inception:
WL 07 Poore
WL 06 Rubber Red
SL 05 Tasty Navel
WL 05 WTF
SL 04 White
WL 04 Ninjas
WL 03 U
