Hi there,
If you are interested in what the plans are for the Dorothea Dix property
in Raleigh,
whether to develop the property with condo's or leave as a park, there is a
group formed
called Dix Visionaries who have websites set up and are asking for support.

More info can be found at the following websites: http://dix306.com/
http://www.dixpark.org

There is also a survey *** the Survey ended on the 20th but you can see
the results 71% voted to preserve the land*** on the Triangle Business
Journal site go to:
        http://triangle.bizjournals.com/triangle/ (Survey is on the
LFET side of the page)

You can also email your legislators and let them know if you want to
preserve this historic,
land as Raleigh's Central Park. A link to the key legislators is on the
website: www.dixpark.org

Thanks
Missy S. (passing this along on behalf of the Dix Visionaries)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dix Visionaries Goal: Please help us preserve the Dorothea Dix property
as Raleigh's Central Park or Destination Park. And, please pressure our
government and ensure they DO NOT "RUSH" a proposal through the
legislature to develop "mixed use" condos and retail space (400,000 sq ft)
on the Dorothea Dix property. The government's existing ULI proposal
calls for development through the "heart" of the property. Our plan calls
for preserving the park and developing the edges, like all great parks in
great cities.

Here's how you can make a difference:

1. Vote ***Check the article*** on the Business Pulse Survey in the
Triangel Business Journal:
http://triangle.bizjournals.com/triangle/ (on the left side of the
page)

2. Please let Nikki Mercer, Dix Visionaries, (919) 602-8737 know if you
would like a DIX 306
yard sign and she'll order one for you. There are 5000 more on
order! The "grass roots"
effort has been a HUGE success!

3. Please write/email your legislators and let them know we MUST preserve
this historic, pristine
land as Raleigh's Central Park. If you've lived in other cities w/
great parks, mention that!

Go to the website: www.dixpark.org and access the list of key
legislators.
It takes 5 mins, our efforts are getting their attention, YOUR letters
DO make a difference....

4. Donate!! Please contact Nikki Mercer, Dix Visionaries, (919) 602-8737
about how to contribute
to Dix Visionaries as an individual or corporation.
