Dear Triangle Ultimate Community:

On the weekend of January 4-6, 2008, our group, the Smokin’ Hot NC97,
plans to leave a legacy in the domain of children at the Summit House of
the Piedmont in Greensboro, NC. The Summit House is a home for women who
have been convicted of non-violent felonies to serve their sentence while
continuing to be a parent. The Summit House provides an opportunity for
families to remain together despite past choices of mothers which could
have a great impact on their children. The children will be in a safe
place with their mother rather than being passed through family members or
the foster care system. There is a very real cost benefit to have both
mother and child together.

We are requesting your support of this effort by donating goods, services,
or money for the development of a garden and play area for the children.

The committed leaders of NC97 have chosen to create a garden for the
mothers and play space for the children, who are 7 years old or younger.
We envision the garden to be a place where mothers can watch their
children grow and explore, while reflecting on the value of life, family,
and new beginnings. The play area will be an enclosed, safe and fun space
for the children to enjoy while outside, as well as a mural for the
playroom inside the building.

With your help, we can create several places within the Summit House for
growth and development, but more importantly, for family togetherness. We
need the goods and services in the list below this message, and perhaps
any others that can be used to promote and encourage self-sufficiency and
family togetherness. All monetary donations to the Summit House of the
Piedmont are 100% tax-deductible, and the Summit House will send you a
thank-you note along with any information needed for this year’s tax
forms. All checks should be made out to the Summit House of the Piedmont.
Through a press release and at the ribbon-cutting ceremony, we will
publicly acknowledge any donations provided by you or your company.

Should you have any questions or require additional information, please
feel free to contact me, Chuck Yu, at 919-812-4147 or cayu at ncsu.edu, or J
Benton Reid at 704-473-3887 or at ruddyscot at yahoo.com.

It is our hope that you will assist us with this very important endeavor.
Again, thank you in advance - your participation will ensure that a child
grows with his or her mother. Please visit the Summit House of the
Piedmont website (http://www.summithouse.org/) for more information.
