[TFDA] Herndon Road Park southern durham

All,

I was looking into the new Herndon Park, about 2 miles south of Southpoint mall. I was told these fields were booked up on Monday through Thursday evenings for 2007, and 2008 reservations were not being released until mid-January. Using cunning logic, I asked about the first couple of weeks in January. After a long pause I was then forwarded to the person in charge of the 2008 reservations.

I left a couple voice mails since yesterday and have basically given up until Friday when hopefully I'll have more time/patience to deal with Durham gvt.

I drive by these fields every evening between 6 and 8pm and they are usually empty. For 2 hours (see below), they'd be $60 or $100 for a baseball or turf soccer field. The soccer field could fit 2 games -haven't walked the baseball field to determine if it is sufficient for pickup. Funny thing

If anybody else wants to step up and pursue this, please do.

I will be happy to help somebody get these fields reserved and collect $. I'm guessing we'd have enough people to play 2 games most Tuesday or Wednesday evenings ~7 or 7:30pm.

Please no reply-all's unless it's wicked funny, and doesn't involve Victor, butt plugs, and ginger cream.

Thanks, Rich

I searched around for some fields nearer I-40, but most everything in this neck of the woods is
being re-seeded or simply out of service till the spring.

However, I found Campus Hills park, off of Alston Ave, located here: http://tinyurl.com/3al9xa

I booked only two nights so that we could try it out and determine whether it suits our mid-week
evening needs.

It costs $75/night, which means I'll be asking $4/person.

This game begins Wednesday, Dec 12, and will occur again Dec 19. If there's sufficient interest,
I'll book through mid-February.
