The 5th annual MOMart: Art That Makes a Difference show is here! The
preview party is Friday, May 4 from 7-10pm at Broad St. Cafe, 1116 Broad
St., Durham. $20 gets you free beer, wine, food from restaurants all
over Durham (and Mel's brownies!), and the chance to buy affordable art
from local artists, including frisbee players: Amy Axon and Katya Prince
pottery, Steve Frame cribbage boards, Tom Reid's wife Jackie beaded
jewelry, Drew Preiss metalwork, and Katherine Bliss and myself garden
art and plants.
The show also continues all day Saturday, May 5th and benefits an
excellent community organization, Durham CAN (durhamcan.org), that helps
improve living, working, and healthcare conditions for low to moderate
income people. The show is hosted by Just a Few Friends, a nonprofit
founded five years ago by local women ultimate players.
Rumor is this year on Friday there will be an after-show dance party at
the same location...to work off all the beer and wine you drank.
Hope to see you there!
