While we're off topic, thought I'd add some info about the killer
performers at this show (one of them was a ukelele tutor for Tom
Selleck?!)...
Liz
About the artists:
Two Dollar Pistols (Country/Rockabilly): Since their formation in 1996,
the Two Dollar Pistols, led by baritone singer John Howie, Jr., have
gained the respect of country music fans worldwide through international
touring and four critically acclaimed releases. Howie recently told the
Independent Weekly that he hopes that people will think of the Pistols
as "a country band that likes R&B, that likes rock 'n roll, that likes
rockabilly, that likes The Beatles, but not a rock 'n roll band
that likes country music." For more information, visit:

Barefoot Manner (Bluegrass/Newgrass): Barefoot Manner is a five-piece
musical group whose sound has been growing, changing, and evolving for
over five years. Originally rooted in high energy newgrass, soul shaking
funk, and musical experimentation on all levels, the continued
passion of the band and its fans for exploring what music can be has
created a truly unique experience that is Barefoot Manner. In the past,
the band has worked with Sam Bush Band, Acoustic Syndicate, the Larry
Keel Experience, Blueground Undergrass, and the John Cowan Band. For
more information, visit http://www.barefootmanner.com.
Armand Lenchek (Local Blues Legend): From festivals in Europe and in the
United States to clubs up and down the East Coast and the Midwest, local
blues legend Armand Lenchek has cut his teeth playing blues and R&B
backing artists like Skeeter Brandon, Walter "Lightnin' Bug" Rhodes,
Nappy Brown and Bo Diddley. Although he can shred with the best
of them, Lenchek has mastered one of the most difficult skills in any
guitarist's repertoire: restraint. He plays every note he needs to, and
not a note more. Sometimes that's a blistering fury, sometimes it's a
laid back shuffle, every time it's just what the song calls for. For
more information, visit http://www.treasurerecords.com/armand.htm.
Danny Gotham (Flatpicking/Fingerpicking Guitar/Instrumental): Growing up
in the 1960's, Danny Gotham got the idea to play guitar when the Beatles
were televised into his living room. Since that time, Gotham has
developed into a master flatpicker and fingerpicking instrumentalist.
Gotham has opened for many major acts, including Arlo Guthrie, Doc
Watson, David Bromberg, Leo Kottke and John Fahey and has appeared on
the soundtrack of the PBS film Hungers of the Soul. In one of his more
unusual gigs, Gotham was the ukulele tutor for Tom Selleck as the actor
prepared for the Broadway production A Thousand Clowns. For more

> Tom Reid and I created the Carolina Outreach Foundation after we realized that a lot of the children and families that we worked with simply did not have the exposure or access to many of the experiences that help people move toward a better life for themselves, and that they need more than what we could offer through our mental health services. The Carolina Outreach Foundation will serve as a resource portal to channel financial and in-kind support to help our clients access community learning and developmental activities such as recreation (i.e., martial arts lessons), sponsored vocational internships with local businesses, academic support (educational camps, etc.), and the like. Another goal is to buy houses that allow 16 and 17 year old clients (who may be struggling with school) to learn both the business and technical knowledge of renovating a house for resale, with client families eventually being the purchasers of the renovated houses.

> Thanks in advance for your support. When I was struggling with trying to figure out my place in the world, I started playing ultimate and the confidence and experience that I gained from the sport and the community is what has helped me become comfortable leading a company with 130 employees. My hope is that we can provide similar experiences to kids who would otherwise remain disconnected and disenfranchised from much of the prosperity that is found in the triangle area.
