Hello TFDA,
I know this is off topic (although there are more than a handful of ultimate players working with us) and that the ultimate community has already done enough for me over the years but I am asking for some support for an important event with the non-profit agency we created as a complement to our primary business.
On November 5, 2006, at the ArtsCenter in Carrboro, we will have a Benefit Concert for the Carolina Outreach Foundation featuring local musicians The Two Dollar Pistols, Barefoot Manner, Danny Gotham, and Armand Lenchek.
Tickets are now on sale at ($14 for ArtsCenter members, $16 for non-members). Doors open at 3:30, and the show goes from 4:00-7:00. You can purchase tickets online at http://www.artscenterlive.org/index.php?a=music&b=music&id=224
More Info
Tom Reid and I created the Carolina Outreach Foundation after we realized that a lot of the children and families that we worked with simply did not have the exposure or access to many of the experiences that help people move toward a better life for themselves, and that they need more than what we could offer through our mental health services. The Carolina Outreach Foundation will serve as a resource portal to channel financial and in-kind support to help our clients access community learning and developmental activities such as recreation (i.e., martial arts lessons), sponsored vocational internships with local businesses, academic support (educational camps, etc.), and the like. Another goal is to buy houses that allow 16 and 17 year old clients (who may be struggling with school) to learn both the business and technical knowledge of renovating a house for resale, with client families eventually being the purchasers of the renovated houses.

Thanks in advance for your support. When I was struggling with trying to figure out my place in the world, I started playing ultimate and the confidence and experience that I gained from the sport and the community is what has helped me become comfortable leading a company with 130 employees. My hope is that we can provide similar experiences to kids who would otherwise remain disconnected and disenfranchised from much of the prosperity that is found in the triangle area.
Hope to see you at the concert.
Tim
