[TFDA] a little listserv abuse

In case anyone is counting:
Innocuous e-mail asking for a little help: 1
Cacophony of responses discussing said e-mail and arguing weather allowing
such e-mail is acceptable or not: 23
Now that I have added my utterly redundant two cents: 24
Were jamming the sideline here, folks... everyone is cutting at once. dump
and swing people, dump and swing.

Well, for another perspective, I don't think of it as SPAM, I like receiving
it (if it helps out friends in the community), and it doesn't add a
noticeable amount to my overall e-mail load.
If an e-mail has a descriptive subject line, it doesn't take more than a
second or two to add it to the delete queue (If you're not interested in
it). given that we get maybe 1-2 off topic e-mails per week on this list
(out of an average of 2 per day over the last couple of years), I'm willing
to spend an extra minute or two per year to help out people in the
community. Also, if you are truly worried about your e-mail load, you could
get this in digest form, or simply read it online.
