[TFDA] a little listserv abuse

I prefer to be interrupted. And I'm in Jersey...

See PADA.org for what I think is a pretty decently set up forum site, but that said, I still love listserv and Garrett.

I joined the TFDA listserv because it provides the perfect forum to announce
things like league game cancellations (which has saved me a number of times)
and area tournaments. I think we should be careful not open the list to
advertisements simply because they're couched in a "community resource"
context. Given the geographic distance this list spans (Chapel Hill to
Hillsborough to Raleigh and beyond), it seems like personal advertisements
are casting too wide a net in the first place, and with craigslist already
doing a superb job of providing a free and open forum for this type of
activity, I don't see why there's a strong need for it here.

I think members of this list should just stay mindful of the fact that
sending a personal advertisement during the middle of working hours has the
potential to interrupt hundreds of people.
