Dear freshmeat.net subscriber,
barsnick just announced version 1.4 of gzip on freshmeat.net.
The changes are as follows:
Many changes were made since the last announcement. Most notably, a security
vulnerability potentially allowing arbitrary code execution, reported as
CVE-2010-0001, was fixed. Many other minor bugs were fixed.
Project description:
gzip (GNU zip) is a compression utility designed to be a replacement for
'compress'. Its main advantages over compress are much better compression and
freedom from patented algorithms. The GNU Project uses it as the standard
