Summary: No provider of JAVA in stable grimoire
           Product: Codex
           Version: stable grimoire
          Platform: All
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: CLOSED
          Severity: major
          Priority: P2
         Component: java
        AssignedTo: sm-grimoire-bugs at lists.ibiblio.org
        ReportedBy: pavel at videon-znojmo.cz

There is no JAVA provider in stable grimoire.
Perhaps the spell 'kaffe' should contain the PROVIDES descriptor.

JAVA spells are included in z-rejected grimoire.
You should "scribe add z-rejected".

Probably all DEPENDS files containded "depends JAVA" should contain 'depends
JAVA "" "" z-rejected'.
I can see only a problem if we will have some JAVA provider in standard grimoire.

And what about the kaffe spell ? Is it a JAVA provider ? I think it installs
java VM as well as the JRE, so it should be.
Anyway, sorcerers may become confused, if spells providing JAVA are only present
in non-default grimoire, which must be scribed explicitly.

kaffe does not provide a full JRE environment and is not capable of replacing any current JAVA provider. Neither is gcj.

I've updated all packages that depend or optionally depend on JAVA to also depend on the z-rejected grimoire in devel, test, and stable-rc/0.2.

NOTES: libs/lasso is only in devel and editors/openoffice is marked WIP. For editors/openoffice I manually modified DEPENDS and HISTORY in test and then integrated into stable-rc/0.2.

gnome2-libs/{libgconf-java,libgnome-java,libglade-java} seem to have been modified in test, but not devel. I've pulled the test updates to those three into devel.

I did not integrate the following into stable-rc/0.2 as they were not in the prior stable/stable-rc release anyways: java/resin, devel/clearsilver.

Please verify.

Clearsilver was never tested with any JAVA provider, because I still don't have
any on AMD64. So, it's a good call not to integrate it. Alternatively,
JAVA-related optional_depends call can be removed. It's not critical to
anything, nothing depends on it in stable grimoire.

Probably file a new bug for it then. I changed even the commented out
dependencies for JAVA in packages I found 'just in case'. :)

What are you referring to here? If to what I said about JAVA providers on AMD64,
we don't support it officially, so my plan is to take a look at it eventually
unless somebody does that first, but does this really need a bug?

No bug needed then, I thought you were asking me to update the JAVA optional
depends, sorry.

No prob. When I said

I meant clearsilver spell, not its optional_depends on JAVA :-). My bad.
