Why not just offer both, like we do for most spells that have "stable"
and "devel" versions? I don't see the harm in doing it that way, and
then you don't have to worry about breaking away from standard practice,
since that would be standard. You could do this for both nedit and
lesstif, since AFAIK just having the "devel" (i.e., SCM) versions is
what's needed to get them working properly.
The one thing I can see as a difference is that if the "stable" version
is still offered then it doesn't force anyone to use the "devel"
version, so people might use the "stable" version and then complain that
it doesn't work. Having only the "devel" versions would prevent people
who are not in the know from running into problems. However, isn't that
the job of the SA, rather than the distro?
