The 0.9.6.3 ISO is probably hard-coded for a CD-ROM and cannot boot
from any non-CD/DVD-ROM device.
The devel ISO is probably missing vfat support in the kernel. You
could try formatting your USB stick with ext2 (you probably do not
want a journaled filesystem on a flash drive) if there is no data on
it you require. You can also partition the USB stick so you can have
your data on vfat and the ISO on ext2.
Please feel free to file bugs for Cauldron for features we need to add
(e.g. vfat, if it is indeed missing).
