The equivalent to rc.local (which is more of a bsd thing iirc) in
sourcemage is /etc/sysconfig/bootmisc. There is also a haltmisc that
is run on shutdown. The actual init script that runs both of these is
/etc/init.d/runlevels/%3/smgl-misc

I tend to run fetchmail from cron to minimize the number of daemons i need
running, but one could easily do all that for specific users in bootmisc.
