two basesystem spells (xfsprogs and texinfo) had 404 errors, processor
archspecs don't stick during install (easily remedied), grep had an issue
with a missing install log messing up install (because egrep and fgrep
already existed), glibc hung on recompile on making the chinese locale
(fixed by ctrl-z'ing out and killing the parent of the hung gzip) (this
could be transient error and not our fault), it
wouldn't boot at first because the old mbr had grub on it and I put lilo
only on the 1st partition. lilo -M fixed the mbr issue with a boot to the
rescue CD. Other than that, now I have a perfect beta2 install after
sorcery rebuild and a full update of sorcery/test.
Also gaze alien returns some files, /bin/pgawk- and /bin/gawk- that are
probably not necessary, so I deleted them. also gcc didn't save it's
install log, so they showed up as alien.
binutils and e2fsprogs had some alien docs.
other than that, there were just /etc files and /usr/lib/locale files.
/usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0/ had stuff as alien, too, but perl built fine for me.
Maybe it got missed somehow in the install log.
There were quite a few spells that started out without install logs that
probably should have (the egrep problem would be a non-issue).
so there's my cryptic summary, now I'm going to actually install stuff.
