SUNDAY, OCTOBER 13th (DOUBLE BILL!)

*7pm $5

THE LUCKY BUM FILM TOUR (from portland, oregon)

Portland-based filmmakers Vanessa Renwick and Bill
Daniels have serious cases of wanderlust: Renwick once
hitchhiked barefoot for nine months and Daniels has
crisscrossed the country interviewing hobos for his
films about tramp culture. Now the two have embarked
on the Lucky Bum Film Tour, a 7,950-mile, 22-city,
six-week film series screened in D.I.Y. venues across
the U.S. Daniel's film, The Girl on the Train in the
Moon, sheds light on the little-known art of hobo
graffiti, a 100-year-old tradition of "chalking up"
boxcars with one's nickname. Daniels takes the doc one
step further, using a video and sound installation to
replicate a hobo campsite that includes a projected
fire and moon. Renwick's "Go, Baby, Go!," a series of
experimental shorts, tackles such untraditional topics
as rodeos, nude bicycling, and Richard "Richart"
Tracy, a former mental patient whose junk sculptures
take up three residential lots and most of his
Washington home. Local filmmaker Bryan Boyce does his
part with State of the Union, a comic send-up of
George W. Bush.

more information can be found at

we are very excited to be presenting CAT POWER at
ps211. aka Chan Marshall, she has written some of the
most beautiful and haunting songs ever heard.

With only a guitar or piano, and a voice that is
developing into one of the most expressive in rock,
Marshall crafts deeply textured explorations of
heartache, terror, longing, dismay, and emotions I'm
pretty sure I've not found yet.... -SPIN magazine

FROG AND TOAD TOGETHER (greensboro)
THE MOBIUS BAND (massachusetts)
SOLTERO (massachusetts)

FROG AND TOAD TOGETHER have all the necessary
components that makes a great instrumental group.
angular, melodic, yet none too noodling guitar,
driving smooth bass and a precision beat that keeps it
moving. this will be there second time playing at
ps211. THE MOBIUS BAND's ,http://www.themobiusband.com
cd really took me by surprise. electronic rock that
moves, that inspires, that drones, that...wow. do not
miss these guys, they are going to be getting big
after this tour, i can guarantee it. for fans of TRANS
AM, RADIOHEAD, NEU!, STEREOLAB, YO LA TENGO.
SOLTERO http://www.solterosongs.com are from the same
town as THE MOBIUS BAND and they ofter serve as the
songwriter's, ben macri, back up band. more on the
mellow with acoustic guitars and ben's deep, rich
voice, he spins somewhat absurd tails of uplifting
sadness.
