FIRST SEED SCHOOL FILLED IN CORNVILLE - SECOND ADDED
Seeds Trust Presents Innovative Permaculture Seed Program

The first Seed School, slated for late September in
Cornville, Arizona is filled. As a result of its overwhelming
success, a second Seed School has been added, from October 30th
through November 6th. Seed School will inspire and teach the
practical, detailed information necessary to help recreate the
genetic foundation for a truly sustainable agriculture.
Many gardeners, farmers and growers are still purchasing,
one-size-fits-all seeds every year. They could and should be saving
seeds selected for qualities and characteristics that work best for
them. Seed School will train gardeners, farmers, seed savers,
entrepreneurs, non-profits, policy makers and anyone else interested
in turning the tide on the industrialization of our food and
agriculture systems. Teaching people to "think seeds first" is the
basis for any long-term, self sufficient, secure agricultural
program. Seeds selected and harvested for disease and pest
resistant, hardiness, earliness, flavor and other qualities
strengthen a regions' diversity. As the saying goes, the strength of
any ecosystem is a function of its diversity.
Classroom time in this permaculture inspired program will
range from an introduction to genetics to modern database management
(for those wishing to start a seed business or add a seed component
to an existing organization). It will be balanced with hands-on
activities including harvesting, processing, germination testing and
packaging seeds. Seed School takes place in the beautiful Verde
Valley in Arizona from October 30th through November 6th.
The class will be taught by Bill McDorman, President of Seeds
Trust which he founded in 1989. Bill has over 30 years in the seed
business and has started three seed companies including Garden City
Seeds and High Altitude Gardens. He has been teaching seed saving for
30 years. He is the author of Basic Seed Saving, 1994.
