Thanks Wes.

Yes, Carolyn's books 'A Children's Food Forest' and 'Food Forest Resource Sheets' are excellent. I highly recommend them. They can be purchased here:

Also, for those who haven't heard she has a new book out, with Janet Millington, called 'Outdoor Classrooms'. I've been told copies are finally available overseas, but I have not had any luck contacting the sales person through the website. Nevertheless, it appears to be groundbreaking. Samples and excerpts can be found on the site:

Carolyn Nuttall, permaculture in schools pioneer
by Russ Grayson - last modified 25-07-2007 21:38

Carolyn Nuttall based her first book, 'The Childrens Food Forest', on her experience with primary children in food growing projects at Brisbane's Seville Road State School, where she was a teacher. The book marks the start of the use of the permaculture design system in schools and pointed to an alternative direction for environmental education. More recently, Carolyn wrote a workbook for use in schools and has been guest speaker at conferences of the Australian City Farms & Community Gardens Network (www.communitygarden.org.au), which hosts permaculture in schools practitioners. That 'The Childrens Food Forest' is still in print is testament to its value after all these years.

> Hi all,
>
> I've been waiting to make a "formal" introduction, but I thought it would be a good time to jump in and let folks know I have started collecting any and all information about permaculture & kids. The Childrens Permaculture Resource Network is working to collect and distribute information as well as create curriculum that will (hopefully) be introduced into schools.

> Here in Northeastern North America, we have a wiki:

>
> which has emerged as a central organizing tool for inter-regional communication via the web.. There is New York City, Philladelphia, Vermont, Upstate NY, New Hampshire, Maine, Quebec, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and now Maryland, etc. connecting through this medium.
> The best part about a wiki is its truly permaculture- participatory, non-hierarchical, no web master or web mistress... just post and edit in an open source way. Everyone and anyone can contribute. The most used feature is the calendar of events and the annual northeastern regional summer gathering (July 3-4, in Vermont this year), but there is a database of designers, sites, growing database of plant information, design showcase/ feedback, educational resources like free slides and powerpoints, etc. We'd love to connect with other regions and flesh out the links page- please feel to stop by and contribute!
