[permaculture] thimerosol/vaccinations

I recently had the same dilemma when deciding whether or not to vaccinate my son as we do a lot of traveling in Asia.

I believe the tetanus injection does still contain thimersol. However having spoken to many people, and doing some of my own research, Tetanus was one injection i decided to give as catching tetanus is a pretty full on situation. So unless you have a known allergy, its worth having it.

Some other options are;

- You can have a blood test which checks to see which anti bodies you already have, you may find you don't need the injection anyway.
- A pharmacist will be able to tell all the info you need about injections, the various brands and what they are based with.

Good luck.

I am generally against vaccinations but am considering one for tetanus as gardeners are more susceptible to this infection from tetanus containing soil. This appears to be especially true for my area (Arkansas, US) as most all the soils have some amounts, owing to the prevalence of the use of horse manures. Thimerosol (contains mercury) is nasty doodoo. I used to use Bausch & Lomb eyewash,> which contained it, to prevent eye infections.
