Considering the weight of your masonry woodstove or hybrid, locating it on top of anything other than high strength 
reinforced concrete may be quite risky, especially if you plan on extending the structure outside the dwelling with a 
masonry chimney.

If you increase the load bearing surface area of the stone and mortar column then you'd probably need to make a 
reinforced concrete sheath to enclose the column completely or possibly on one or more sides only.

The serpentive flue could weigh a lot as would the entire stove so proper footings for it will be very important. You 
don't want it to settle or cause the structure to lean away from plumb.
