the same of course goes for lending people your books, videos, cds, dvds, etc.
it is illegal in most respects and undermines the profits of the
creator (or more usually, the companies which promote, print,
distribute and retail your work.)
if people use, enjoy and appreciate your creation, they will pay you
for it if they are able.
many forward thinking creators of copywritable works believe it is
more important for their work to be benefitted from by as many people
as possible than an extra $ in the bank.
copy away, i say. but try not to waste a cd in the process, send it
electronically.
if the software suits your needs, you'll probably buy it. (if not,
you'll probably fond an open source equivalent which does the job)
