[permaculture] Slovenia -IPC7

this question is for anyone who might have been involved with the International Permaculture Conference that was held in June 2005. I understand it involved Austria, Croatis and Slovenia and I have read all of the reports from the official website (http://perma.superserver.dk/PermacultureConvergence)

Here is my situation. My family has the opportunity to live in Slovenia. Although most of my early experiences there were lovely, it has been over a decade since I last visited relatives (at a time when I was not ecologically awake)

My partner and I are trying to decide between moving back to Oregon (we lived there 03-05) or to Slovenia.

The fact that the country is roughly 50% forest and has retained more of it's traditional farming methods makes us very enthusiastic. However, so does the fact that you can throw a rock in Eugene and hit someone who's involved with permaculture.

At this point we are leaning heavily toward Slovenia this is due to our belief that it has a greater chance of being energy independent in the event of a catastrophe (peak oil, presidential takeover by fundamentalist christian leadership, so forth)

I would love to hear individuals experiences - whether good or bad
- who attended the 7th IPC. What did you find inspiring, lacking, etc.
What are your memories of the environment, landscape, countryside.... How did you find the people, food, awareness...

Thank you all SO much for taking the time to help us with our decision.

-Roman
